Think you’re “bad at art”? We don’t believe you. This relaxed, encouraging seven-week course is for total beginners, art-curious adults, and anyone still recovering from a horrible high-school art teacher. Through playful projects and clear, approachable exercises, we’ll explore the fundamentals of drawing, colour, composition, oil pastels, painting, and more. No experience—and absolutely no artistic confidence—required. It’s time to do the thing you’ve been wanting to do for years: try and see that yes, you CAN do it. All materials provided, even a sketchbook to call your own! Runs November 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30; December 7 and 14. At our 1152 College Street location.
Thursdays from 6:30–8:30 p.m. at 1152 College Street~ Runs for 7 WEEKS ~ Course in Progress
This is a hands-on course for making garments that fit you while using nearly every scrap of fabric. You will learn the essentials, including machine basics, taking measurements, cutting, seam finishing, and construction, in a supportive, community studio setting. We will complete three practical, style-forward projects: a one-of-a-kind tote, a simple jacket or housecoat, and a final “choose-your-own” garment with lots of guidance and options. (This is a pillowcase-free zone.) Bring your own machine if you have one (if you don’t, we got you!), and we will help you get it set up and running smoothly, plus cover basic care and maintenance. Taught by artist and sewing phenom Madelaine Bell. Runs September 17, 24; October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. t our 1152 College Street location.
