Join us for a playful, surprising, and very kid-friendly evening of short films by conceptual artists. These aren’t ordinary movies: they’re funny, strange, inventive, and full of unexpected moments — the kind of videos that make you ask, “Wait… what just happened?” in the best possible way. We’ll be showing fan-favourite Bas Jan Ader, along with Vito Acconci, Pipilotti Risk, John Smith, Kota Ezawa, and more. Don’t know what conceptual art is? No problem! Hot Pizza co-founder—and accomplished editor, curator, and writer—Brian Sholis will guide us through this amazing adventure. Snacks provided, but feel free to bring your own, too! A playful morning for Hot Pizza’s youngest artists to explore, experiment, and begin finding their own creative voices. Through drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and more, kids will make imaginative projects that feel magical and gently build real art skills along the way. While the kids create, grown-ups can settle in with coffee or tea and make collages of their own—because everyone deserves a little studio time. At 134 Osler Street.

You asked, we listened! Hot Pizza’s very popular Slimes and Potions class is back! The studio will turn into a chemistry lab in this sensorial celebration. We’ll also learn about colour mixing while we’re at it, for a full spectrum of fun and creativity.

Our after-school comics club is so popular, but we’ve realize that not all kids can make it to Hot Pizza during the week. Ta-da! Our Hot Pizza Saturday Comics class is an exciting, one-off experience where students will develop their own characters while crafting fun stories (plot, conflict, resolution, drama, friendship, etc.) for a wondrous time.

Using more Lego* than you’ve ever seen, along with handmade backdrops and scenery, students will experience the magical process of creating their very own stop-motion animation videos. This class requires students to bring in their own tablets and a free stop-motion animal app called Stop Motion Studio (great if you could download it before class, but no worries if not!). *Our Lego stays at Hot Pizza after class, just FYI :) . Saturday, October 17 from 9:30–11 a.m. at 134 Osler Street ~ Grades 1—3
In this one-off class, we’ll dream up and build our own musical instruments using cardboard, upcycled materials, and tons of art supplies. We’ll experiment with sound, rhythm, and design as we create shakers, guitars, drums, and other yet-to-be invented instruments! At the end of class, we’ll come together as a band to play our own original music. No musical experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to make some joyful noise! Co-led by musician extraordinaire Allison Leyton-Brown and Hot Pizza founder Julia Dault.

In this playful one-off class, students will work alongside acclaimed Canadian artist Micah Lexier to design and build their very own secret surprise scavenger hunt kits for family and friends. Inspired by wordplay, kids will experiment with wire, paper, felt, string, wood, fabric, paint, textiles, and more to create imaginative components—complete with handmade scorecards and prizes! Micah’s Scavenger Hunt , exhibited at The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, will also be on display at Hot Pizza and students will be given an original coin from the show.

Hoia Baciu, in Transylvania, is said to be the world’s most haunted forest. Many of the trees grow in crooked, zigzag shapes or in clockwise spirals. When entering the woods, visitors have described experiencing everything from electronic devices that stop working to sightings of ghosts and UFOs. It is also said that people have wandered into this eerie hilltop forest, never to be seen again. In this one-off class, we will make the spookiest, scariest dioramas possible: our very own haunted forests. Register…if you dare. At 134 Osler Street.

In this one-off class taught by the amazing Steve Bynoe, explore Manga WHILE EATING PIZZA. Learn and refine your own manga style by looking to manga greats such as Son Goku (Dragon Ball), Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece), Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto), Astro Boy, Sailor Moon, and more. We’ll teach students about the effects of exaggerated expressions, unique panel layouts, and fast-paced action so they can develop their own manga worlds. No experience required! Just, as always, curiosity.

In this class, we will learn to knit very scary monsters using yarn, appliqués, and icords! Knit Master Sandra Moretti teaches knitting like no other: in an accessible, all-levels way; we’ll learn and practice casting-on and off, as well as how to knit in the round. Bring your own knitting needles and yarn* (so that you can take them with you after class to keep working!), we provide the appliqués and icords. Please note, class price is per person. *If you’re new to knitting: the best needles for beginners are straight, bamboo needles in sizes 5 mm–7mm—or if you already have yarn, check the label and it will indicate the right size needles to use. For yarn, a bulky-weight wool blend is best, but a medium worsted weight will work, too. These are available at any craft or knitting store. At 1152 College Street location. This printmaking workshop focuses on relief and block printmaking and all of its corresponding delights! We’ll design, build, and print images on paper and maybe even make our own wrapping paper shhhh! Students will leave with a brilliant collection of their own prints. At 134 Osler Street.

Bring your favourite stuffy and we’ll create one-of-a-kind architecture! Think mansions, two-story abodes, special hideouts, and more, with beds, tables, chairs, garages … basically anything you can dream up. Kids will beam as their stuffed animals move into their new homes, a project that can be played with again and again. At 134 Osler Street.
Saturday, November 28, 9:30—11:00 a.m. at 134 Osler Street. ~ Grades 2—6
In this class, we’ll learn how to sculpt vessels using the fundamental technique of hand-building (coils!) with air-dry clay; we’ll also make characters (our known favourites, but also make up new ones!) and bring them to life in sculptable colour.
