Workshops

Explore the range of workshops on offer for class field trips for students from SK to Grade 12.

Every workshop begins with a fun, engaging warm-up drawing game to loosen up imaginations and build confidence. These activities get everyone laughing, experimenting, and ready to create.

Our workshops are designed to nurture creativity, develop artistic skills, and encourage personal expression. We welcome young artists of all abilities and are happy to customize themes to match classroom curriculum or special interests. We offer workshops in either English or French.

Workshops are typically two hours long and students are welcome to snack (nut-free!) in the studio. Our TDSB vendor number is 26497.

    Comics and Graphic Storytelling

    This workshop introduces the basics of visual storytelling: developing characters, designing panels, pacing, and writing dialogue. Perfect for imaginative minds and budding authors or illustrators.

    Apparel/Sewing Arts

    A hands-on introduction to basic sewing and textile work. Students can make items such as stuffed animal clothing, pillows, headbands, fabric bookmarks, and more. This workshop builds fine motor skills and practical creativity.

    Masks!

    Cats, humans, more! We’ll use a plethora of materials to create masks that happily press the imagination into overdrive. We create character cards (think Pokémon cards) to accompany our doppelgangers.

    Painting Exploration

    Young artists will dive into colour, brushwork, and expression using tempera, watercolour, or acrylics. This workshop encourages creative risk-taking, experimentation, and an understanding of colour theory and composition.

    Clay Creation Stations

    Students create original characters, animals, or objects using clay and other modeling materials. This tactile experience is great for storytelling and expressive play. Can be tailored to seasonal or curriculum themes (e.g., historical figures, animals, fantasy creatures).

  • Sculpture

    Participants will work in 3D to create imaginative and expressive sculptures. We can use papier-mâché, recycled objects, plaster, or other materials, through which students explore structure, form, and texture. Seasonal and subject-specific themes available (e.g., winter animals, undersea creatures, or cultural masks).

    Puppet-making

    From sock puppets to stick puppets and paper characters, students will explore how to bring stories and characters to life with handmade puppets. Great for both solo and collaborative storytelling.

    Printmaking

    Students are introduced to the fundamentals of printmaking through age-appropriate techniques such as relief printing, monoprinting, or simple block design. Students explore texture, pattern, and composition while learning how to transfer their own designs onto paper or cloth. Each student leaves with their own original prints and a deeper understanding of artistic processes.
