A Taste of Hot Pizza School Visits ~ Saturday, September 12 from 10 a.m.—12 p.m

Join us for a free open house workshop designed especially for educators interested in bringing their students to Hot Pizza. Led by founder Julia Dault, this hands-on session will offer a playful introduction to what a school visit can look like at our studio: warm-up drawing games, creative stations, sample projects, and examples of how workshops can be tailored to different grades, subjects, and classroom themes.

Educators will get a feel for our approach to making, experimenting, and building confidence through art, with opportunities to explore activities such as comics, painting, clay, masks, printmaking, and more. Come gather ideas, ask questions, and imagine what a customized field trip could look like for your class. Good vibes, coffee and tea will be served. At our 1152 College Street location.

Practice your drawing skills while meeting cool people AND amassing a unique collection of portraits of YOU! Every skill level is welcome and no experience is required. Speed is key, meaning there is no time for perfectionism, over-analysis, or being too precious. We practice drawing each other, together, and while doing so have great conversations and deepen our collective understanding of our uniqueness. No drawing experience required! You’ll see: this will be deeply freeing and joyful!

Join us for a playful, surprising, and very kid-friendly evening of short films by conceptual artists. These aren’t ordinary movies: they’re funny, strange, inventive, and full of unexpected moments — the kind of videos that make you ask, “Wait… what just happened?” in the best possible way. We’ll be showing fan-favourite Bas Jan Ader, along with Vito Acconci, Pipilotti Risk, John Smith, Kota Ezawa, and more. Don’t know what conceptual art is? No problem! Hot Pizza co-founder—and accomplished editor, curator, and writer—Brian Sholis will guide us through this amazing adventure. Snacks provided, but feel free to bring your own, too! Saturday, September 26 from 7 p.m.—10 p.m. at 134 Osler St.
Come play with pattern, colour, and cloth in this fun, hands-on block printing workshop for adults by the amazing Sarah Aranha. You’ll learn how to design a simple image, carve your own printing block, ink it up, and print repeat patterns onto fabric. Bring cotton or linen clothing, tote bags, tea towels, or other natural-fibre pieces to transform — or buy a blank tote from us on the day. No experience needed — bring something to print on and leave with something joyful. At our 134 Osler Street location.

Join Sarah Aranha, artist extraordinaire, in this workshop focused on food! Using watercolour and mixed-media (think coloured pencils and collage), we’ll learn to paint our favourite recipes on gorgeous paper, which you’ll take home to cherish (and cook with!). Sarah has the uncanny ability of making watercolours accessible and revelatory in their sumptuous beauty, the best way to capture culinary delights for body and soul. At our 134 Osler Street location.

Saturday, November 21 from 7:30—9:30 p.m. at 1152 College Street
Join us in this very fun workshop, where we’ll use watercolours and mixed media (think coloured pencils, oil pastels, and collage) to capture our beloved furry friends, those with us or those who live in our memories. Bring a photo (printed or on your phone) and we’ll teach you to translate the image into a gorgeous artwork for you to take home. Taught by she-with-a-cult-following Sarah Aranha.

Join the amazing Sarah Aranha for a cozy, festive evening of watercolour and mixed-media card making. We’ll paint, play, nibble on treats, and create a beautiful batch of handmade holiday cards—perfect for sending to loved ones or keeping as tiny seasonal artworks. No experience required! All materials provided (though if you have photos or any other materials you’d like to incorporate into your cards, feel free to bring them). At 1152 College Street.

Sunday, December 6 from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at 1152 College Street
Join our very popular knitting class and learn how to knit a double-sided, two-colour coaster. No experience required! Taught by our resident knitting expert Sandra Moretti. Bring your own knitting needles and cotton yarn* (so that you can take them with you after class to keep working!). You’ll leave with lifelong skills and skeins and skeins of confidence—and maybe even a holiday gift for a loved one. At 1152 College Street location.

*If you’re new to knitting: the best needles for beginners are straight, bamboo needles in sizes 5 mm–7mm. For yarn, a cotton yarn is best for this project (brands like Loops & Threads, for example, make a decent cotton yarn).
