Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?

We are a small, family-run business so we appreciate you trying to make it to the classes you’ve registered for! But we also get it—life is complicated. If you are sick, please don’t come! You will receive credit that does not expire.

Cancellations are assessed on a case-by-case basis and are considered only after alternative solutions have been attempted (e.g., finding a different class).

For multi-week courses, PA days, and camps: generally, save for a $25 processing fee per class/student, you receive a full refund if you cancel 14 days or more before the (first) class. If you cancel between 13 and 7 days before the first class you receive a 50% refund. If you cancel 6 to 2 days before the first class, you receive no refund, but we will give you a free pair of pizza socks as consolation.

For one-off classes: save for a $10 processing fee, the above stated policy applies.

We’re doing a one-off class. What should we bring with us?

Snacks and water are great! We provide everything else. We also make tea and coffee for parents (if applicable), and have all kinds of dairy and non-dairy milks and sweeteners.

We’re sick and can’t make it! What should we do?

Please let us know as soon as possible—we definitely don’t want you to attend if you feel unwell! We’ll work with you to find a solution so that you don’t miss out.

Is it true that you serve actual hot pizza during the last class of the semester?

It’s true! Actual hot pizza at Hot Pizza! It blows the kids’ minds. We can accommodate gluten- and dairy-free options, as well, just let us know in advance. We only provide cheese pizza—toppings can become very controversial 🙃

Do you do school pick-ups for after-school courses?

We do—from schools that are within walkable distance of the Hot Pizza studio. Our Osler St. catchment includes Perth, Indian Road Crescent, and Charles-Sauriol. There must be at least two course registrants from a school to trigger a pick-up. If you would like your school to be added to our pick-up list, let’s talk!

I totally forgot to come to class!

Life is crazy; we get it! However, if we don’t hear from you before class starts, I’m afraid we cannot refund you the class fee/give you credit, as we wouldn’t have had any time to find a replacement student for your spot.

I have a well-behaved five-year old and I noticed a few of your camps and courses start at age 6. Can they participate? Email us directly, let’s talk. We need to find out more about your child to see if it’ll work—it might!

My kid can be … a lot.

We get it! We’re very accepting of different learning styles and social behaviours and try to support students as much as possible. In our intake form, we provide a space for you to include information that you think might help us to help support your child. Tell us everything! The more we know, the better. We review the Hot Pizza Code of Conduct with all kids, so they understand what our expectations are. (Essentially: kindness and respect! It’s posted on our studio wall, too). That said, if, after a trial period, it looks like your child is having a tough time, we’ll reach out to figure out the best way forward.

Do I need to pack snack for my kid?

Yes! After school is a hungry time. Please pack school-safe/nut-free snacks for your child. We recommend putting snacks in a separate bag marked HOT PIZZA so that it doesn’t get eaten at school.

How do I inform our aftercare/teacher that you have permission to pick up our child after school?

It’s best to email the daycare (if applicable) and teacher—that way they can refer back to the message if they need to. On our end, we have you fill out a waiver before the semester to grant us permission to pick up your child, walk them to our studio, and have them safely participate in class.

We have to miss a week of our after-school course, what should we do?

Let us know in advance! We’ll make a note of it and include you in our make-up class list. Make-ups occur either the week AFTER class ends or at the end of the season (depending on the calendar). We’ll always let you know. If you do not tell us in advance that your child will be missing a class, we’re afraid you cannot make it up.

I love art, but am terrified of taking an actual class, help!

We hear you, trying new things can be scary. Hot Pizza is a warm, inclusive, welcoming environment for all levels. We forbid critical self-talk, favouring play, kindness, experimentation, and skill-building to promote joy, discovery, and happiness. Bottom line: we got you because art truly is for everyone.
