In this class, we will make spectacular fake cakes using paint, collage, jewels, fabric, and more. It’ll be a morning of decorating, designing, and deliciousness led by beloved baker and Great Canadian Baking Show finalist chi nguyễn, creator of @snax.nguyen, and Hot Pizza founder Julia Dault. Though you’ll surely be tempted, please don’t eat what your kids make! Chi’s actualcakes, pastries, cookies, and other sweet and savoury treats will be for sale in a bakery pop-up at the front of the studio open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or when the pastries sell out, whichever comes first!). Please note, class price is per person.
Friday, September 18, Doors open at 6 p.m.; screening starts at 6:30 p.m. (sharp!) and runs until 8 p.m. at 1152 College Street ~ All ages
Join us for a playful, surprising, and very kid-friendly evening of short films by conceptual artists. These aren’t ordinary movies: they’re funny, strange, inventive, and full of unexpected moments—the kind of videos that make you ask, “Wait … what just happened?” in the best possible way. We’ll be showing fan-favourite Bas Jan Ader, along with Vito Acconci, Pipilotti Rist, John Smith, Bruce Nauman, William Wegman, Christian Marclay, Kota Ezawa, and more. Don’t know what conceptual art is? No problem! Hot Pizza co-founder—and accomplished editor, curator, and writer—Brian Sholis will guide us through this amazing adventure. Snacks provided, but feel free to bring your own, too! At our 1152 College Street location. Fee is per-person! All proceeds support the Hot Pizza Bursary Fund.
All Ages! (kids + adults, side X side)
Printmaking is pure magic — and in this family-friendly workshop, you’ll get to see it up close (no sharp tools involved). Through easy, step-by-step demonstrations, students will experiment with a variety of printmaking techniques and create a stack of beautiful prints to take home. Along the way, participants will build the skills (and confidence) to keep exploring printmaking long after class ends. Taught by the wonderful Paul Dotey! Class fee includes 1 adult + 1 child.
